- The 7mm Expanding Remington (also known as the 7mm ExR) is a specialized, high-velocity rifle round designed to quickly expand on impact. The round is designed such that it contains a hollow cavity inside its jacket, filled with lead shot or other material. Upon contact with a target, the jacket and core expand rapidly, creating a wide wound channel and providing massive stopping power.
The 7mm Expanding Remington has found favor among hunters of large game looking for increased stopping power beyond what ordinary rounds can provide. It is also used in military applications as an anti-personnel round, particularly when engaging targets at longer ranges.
If you are looking for ammunition in this caliber, Hendershot’s Custom Ammo offers various bullet types from Norma USA and Hornady Precision Hunter along with custom loads to meet your specific needs. Additionally, Lapua brass cases are available for reloaders wanting to craft their own rounds.
