The 7x57 R is a rimmed sporting cartridge of same dimensions as the 7x57 Mauser, but with a rim for easier extraction in break-action rifles. It was developed by Paul Mauser of the Mauser company in 1892 and is used primarily for hunting.
The 7x57 R has a thin jacket for fast and certain expansion, cutting edge for a clean entrance wound and better blood trails, and nickel-plated bullet surface for reliable feeding. It has a velocity of 2608 f/s and energy of 2357 ft.-lb at V0. At 100 yards it has a wind drift of 0.55 inches and 2.32 inches at 200 yards.
