37XC Load Data

The .37 XC is an extreme long-range (ELR) rifle cartridge developed by Applied Ballistics Weapons Division (ABWD) as part of the XC cartridge family designed specifically for precision shooting at distances well beyond one mile. It was created to bridge the gap between high-performance .375-class ELR cartridges and even larger calibers, offering exceptional ballistic efficiency while maintaining improved recoil management and barrel life compared to some ultra-large ELR rounds.

The cartridge is based on the .408 CheyTac bolt face and shares design philosophy with other XC cartridges such as the .33 XC and .375 XC. The case geometry uses a relatively wide body with optimized shoulder design to promote efficient powder burn and stable internal ballistics. This allows the cartridge to achieve high muzzle velocities while maintaining consistent pressure behavior, which is critical for extreme long-range accuracy.

The .37 XC typically fires very high-BC bullets in the 350–400 grain range, designed specifically for ELR applications. These projectiles are optimized for low aerodynamic drag, allowing them to maintain velocity and energy over extremely long distances. When paired with long barrels common in ELR rifles, the cartridge can deliver muzzle velocities around 2900–3000 fps, depending on the specific load.

Today, the .37 XC is primarily used by competitive ELR shooters and long-range specialists seeking maximum ballistic performance and stability at extreme distances.
