The 8x72R is a vintage rimmed rifle cartridge developed in Germany in the late 19th or early 20th century. It was primarily designed for break-action rifles and combination guns used for hunting in Europe. The cartridge features an 8mm (.318-inch) bullet in a 72mm-long rimmed case, making it suitable for medium-sized game such as deer and wild boar.
