- The 6.5 x 47 Lapua is a rifle cartridge that’s quickly gaining popularity among hunters and target shooters alike. Developed in 2008 by Finnish ammunition manufacturer Lapua, this caliber has become renowned for its accuracy and mild recoil, making it suitable for a wide range of uses from long-range shooting competitions to hunting medium game animals like deer or antelope.First and foremost, the 6.5 x 47 Lapua is an impressive round as far as performance goes. It utilizes conventional propellants so it does not have the dramatic muzzle velocity of some other rifle cartridges out there but still manages to offer excellent performance with its high ballistic coefficient bullets due to its low powder loads which helps keep the recoil down to manageable levels even when shooting heavier bullets that measure 130 grains or more. This cartridge also has fairly flat trajectories even at long ranges which makes it ideal for precision shooting and precise shot placement on targets farther away than what’s possible with many other calibers.Furthermore, the 6.5 x 47 Lapua is widely praised for its accuracy thanks in part to its smooth profile and tight tolerances which allow reliable feeding from most rifles chambered in this caliber. On top of this, because it is widely produced by both major ammunition manufacturers like Hornady and boutique companies like Norma Precision Ammunition, you can be sure that there will be plenty of options available no matter what your budget might be!
