  • The .357 Maximum is a revolver cartridge that was introduced in the 1980s by Ruger and Thompson/Center Arms. It is based on the .357 Magnum cartridge but has a longer case and can hold more powder, resulting in higher velocities and greater energy. The .357 Maximum is designed to be used in revolvers and single-shot pistols, and it is often used for hunting and target shooting. It can also be used for self-defense, but it is not as commonly used for this purpose as other cartridges such as the .357 Magnum or 9mm.While the .357 Maximum cartridge has gained a dedicated following, it is not as widely popular as other revolver cartridges such as the .44 Magnum or .357 Magnum. It can be difficult to find ammunition and firearms chambered for this cartridge, and its use is often limited to specific niches within the shooting community.
