This overview compares 90 powders for 8 x 65 RS loaded with the .323 | 125gr | Hornady SP. Hodgdon LEVERevolution delivers the highest muzzle velocity at 3,346 fps; across all powders the maximum-charge window runs from 2,014 fps to 3,346 fps. Accurate 2495 gives the best case fill at 100 %, and 90 of the 90 powders fall inside the usable 80–100 % fill window.
Relative to the caliber's maximum pressure (405 MPa), the top charges use 56–90 %, leaving at least 10 % headroom. The 125.0 gr projectile in 0.323" calls for a 1:16.0 twist; slower twists will usually not stabilise this weight. Accurate 2495, Accurate 4064, ADI AR 2208 reach 100 % fill or more at maximum charge, so these are compressed loads: they need a long drop tube to seat cleanly and react sensitively to the case capacity of your own brass lot. Alliant Power Pro 1200-R, IMR 3031, Hodgdon H4895 rank at the top here: for 8 x 65 RS with the .323 | 125gr | Hornady SP they combine a high case fill with complete burn and sit in the upper velocity band. As outliers, ADI AR 2208, Alliant Power Pro 2000-MR, Alliant Reloder-17 burn incompletely and react more sensitively to barrel length and temperature. Always begin at the start load and work up in small increments while checking case and primer for pressure signs.
