You can now also calculate the bullet trajectory for any of your loads. Once a load like this one fulfills the following criteria, you will see the feature as indicated in the image on the right / below:

  • there is a weapon associated with the load,

  • the weapon has a value for sight height,

  • the load has a recorded muzzle velocity,

  • the load is rated ("thumbs up or down"),

  • we have a ballistic coefficient for the bullet.

Time (s)

Bullet BC G1: Ballistic coefficient used with G1 drag model to describe how a projectile decelerates due to air resistance.

Sight Height: Line of sight above the center of the barrel muzzle.

Temperature: Assumed temperature for trajectory calculation. Lower tempertures result in higher air density and a slightly larger drag and vice versa.

Humidity: Assumed humidity for trajectory calculation. Higher humidity result in more water particles and a slightly larger drag and vice versa.

Altitude: Assued altitude for trajectory calculation. Higher altitude results in lower air density and a slightly lower drag and vice versa.

OZD: Optimum Zeroing Distance or Most Favorable Zero Range refers to the distance at which a rifle is sighted in so that the bullet's trajectory remains within a defined vertical margin — typically ±4 cm / ±1.75 ''  — from the line of sight over a certain range. This means:

  • The shooter can aim directly at the target up to the GEE without adjusting the scope or holdover.

  • Within this range, the bullet stays inside the vital zone (for example, a deer’s kill zone, approximately 8 cm / 3.5'' high).

OZD Max Height:  Distance at which the max. OZD height is reached and max. OZD height

OZD LoS Crossing1: Distance at which the bullet crosses the line of sight the first time

OZD LoS Crossing2 (OZD): Distance at which the bullet crosses the line of sight the second time. Typically referred to as OZD

OZD Max Distance (OZD): Distance at which the bullet is more than the OZD height below the line of sight
