.25-06 Ackley Improved Load Data

Caliber Overview

The .25-06 Ackley Improved (AI) is a modernized version of the .25-06 Remington featuring a steeper 40-degree shoulder and reduced body taper. These changes increase powder capacity by approximately 4–6%, allowing modest velocity gains while maintaining the same parent case and overall cartridge length. Factory .25-06 Remington ammunition can be safely fire-formed in a properly chambered .25-06 AI rifle, producing improved brass for subsequent reloads. The cartridge is valued by handloaders for its excellent balance of flat trajectory, moderate recoil, and efficiency with 75- to 120-grain bullets, making it highly effective for varmints, predators, and medium-sized game.
