Meat bullets are hunting bullets designed specifically to maximize usable meat while still providing reliable and humane game harvesting. Unlike highly fragmenting or explosive projectiles, meat bullets are engineered to deliver controlled expansion and deep penetration without excessive tissue destruction.

The primary goal of a meat bullet is to create a lethal wound channel while minimizing bloodshot meat around the impact area. This is typically achieved through bullet designs that expand moderately but retain most of their weight. Many meat bullets use bonded cores, solid copper construction, or controlled expansion cavities that allow the projectile to open up reliably while maintaining structural integrity.

Compared to highly fragmenting hunting bullets, meat bullets usually produce a narrower but deeper wound channel. This reduces the amount of damaged muscle tissue and allows hunters to recover more usable meat from the harvested animal. As a result, such bullets are often preferred for medium-sized game like deer, antelope, or wild boar where meat preservation is important.

Examples of bullet designs commonly used for meat hunting include monolithic copper bullets, bonded soft-point bullets, and certain controlled expansion polymer-tipped projectiles. These designs balance expansion, penetration, and weight retention.

For hunters who prioritize ethical harvesting and efficient use of game meat, meat bullets offer an effective solution by combining reliable terminal performance with minimal unnecessary tissue damage.
