The .280 Remington is a popular centerfire rifle cartridge designed in the 1950s by Remington Arms Company. It is based on a necked down .30-06 Springfield, and therefore shares the same casing dimensions and operates at extremely similar velocities.
The .280 Rem is well-suited for medium to large game hunting at extended ranges due to its excellent ballistics. It features flat trajectories, high velocity, and relatively mild recoil compared to other magnum cartridges of similar dimensions. It is also capable of excellent accuracy with good quality barrels and load development techniques used by handloaders.
