- The .300 HAM'R is a .30 caliber cartridge developed by Wilson Combat, optimized for the AR-15 platform. It was introduced as a superior alternative to the .300 Blackout, offering increased velocity, energy, and range while maintaining compatibility with standard AR-15 components (except for the barrel). The .300 HAM'R is based on the .223 Remington case, but it is lengthened and necked up to accommodate .30-caliber bullets. It typically fires 110-150 grain bullets with velocities reaching 2,600 fps (feet per second), delivering 30-30 Winchester-level performance in an AR-15 rifle. This round is particularly effective for hunting medium-sized game (like deer and hogs) due to its higher impact energy compared to the .300 Blackout. It also offers better ballistic performance and longer effective range, making it suitable for defensive and tactical applications. In terms of availability, Wilson Combat produces rifles, barrels, and ammunition specifically for the .300 HAM'R, but reloading components are widely available for custom loads. Overall, the .300 HAM'R is a highly capable cartridge that maximizes the potential of the AR-15 platform for hunting and self-defense.
