The .244 H&H Magnum (H&H Mag) is a powerful and accurate centerfire rifle cartridge developed by ammunition manufacturer Hornady in 1959. It was designed for use on larger game animals such as deer and elk, but can also be used effectively for smaller predators like coyotes, foxes and prairie dogs.
The .244 H&H Mag offers velocities slightly higher than that of the older .243 Winchester, making it perfect for extended range shooting. On the other hand, its recoil is still relatively light - which is beneficial when shooting heavy-recoiling rifles such as bolt actions.
