Bofors Powders is a specialist manufacturer of high-performance propellant powders for reloading (hunting, sporting and precision applications). According to the parent company EURENCO, the Bofors brand offers extruded powders that deliver excellent flowability, lot-to-lot consistency and advanced “TZ” (temperature-independent) formulations.
The company has its roots in the Swedish site in Karlskoga and is part of the EURENCO Group’s propellants business. Through this structure, Bofors supplies powders which are then distributed under brands such as Norma and Reloader.
From a technical perspective, Bofors Powders emphasizes its long-standing expertise (“more than 100 years”) in energetic materials and claims to manufacture tailored propellants (grain geometry, composition) to optimize pressure curves, velocity and thermal stability.

Bofors RP5 is a medium-burning extruded rifle powder developed by Bofors, the well-known Swedish propellant manufacturer now part of the EURENCO group. RP5 was positioned between the faster RP-series powders and the slower magnum-oriented formulations, making it suitable for versatile mid-capacity cartridges such as .243 Winchester, 6.5×55, .308 Winchester and similar sporting or hunting loads. Shooters appreciated RP5 for its clean burn, consistent pressure behaviour and stable performance across varying temperatures—hallmarks of Bofors’ single-base propellant engineering. Although RP5 is no longer commonly sold under its original label, comparable Bofors-derived powders remain available today under brands such as Norma or Reloader.
Bofors RP30
Bofors RP30 is a slow-burning, extruded rifle powder developed by Bofors in Sweden, now part of the EURENCO group. Designed for large, high-capacity rifle cartridges, RP30 offered excellent performance in magnum calibres such as .300 Win. Mag., .338 Win. Mag. and similar long-range or hunting loads. Its slow burn rate enabled efficient case fill, stable pressures and strong velocity potential with heavier bullets. Like other Bofors powders, RP30 was appreciated for temperature stability and consistent lot-to-lot performance. Although it is no longer commonly available under the original Bofors label, related formulations persist through modern EURENCO-manufactured powders sold under brands such as Norma or Reloader.
Bofors RP3
Bofors RP3 is an extruded, single-base smokeless reloading powder produced by Bofors, a Swedish propellant manufacturer now part of the EURENCO group. Known for its consistent grain geometry and stable burning characteristics, RP3 was traditionally used in medium rifle cartridges, offering a balanced burn rate suitable for calibres like .22-250, .243 Win and similar mid-capacity cases. The powder was valued for predictable pressures, good temperature stability and clean performance. Although RP3 is no longer widely sold under the Bofors name, its formulations live on through powders produced by EURENCO and distributed under brands such as Norma or Reloader.
Bofors RP15
Bofors RP15 is a medium-slow extruded rifle powder produced by Bofors, the Swedish propellant manufacturer now integrated into the EURENCO group. It was designed for use in mid- to large-capacity rifle cartridges where a slower burn rate supports heavier bullets and efficient case fill. Typical applications included calibres such as 6.5×55, .308 Winchester with heavier projectiles, and similar performance-oriented cartridges. RP15 was known for reliable ignition, stable pressures and good temperature behaviour, reflecting Bofors’ long-standing expertise in single-base propellants. While RP15 is no longer commonly sold under its original name, similar Bofors-derived powders continue to exist under brands like Norma or Reloader.
Bofors RP7
Bofors RP7 is a fast- to medium-burning extruded rifle powder produced by Bofors in Sweden, now part of the EURENCO group. It was engineered for small to mid-capacity cartridges where quick, efficient ignition is essential. RP7 found typical use in calibres such as .222 Remington, .223 Remington and similar varmint or target cartridges. Shooters valued it for clean burning, consistent metering and predictable pressures, all characteristic of Bofors’ single-base propellant technology. Though RP7 is no longer widely available under its original designation, comparable formulations continue to exist in modern Bofors-derived powders sold through brands like Norma and Reloader.
