The .375 Swiss P (9.5×70mmRB) is a high-powered, long-range rifle cartridge developed by RUAG Ammotec to bridge the performance gap between the .338 Lapua Magnum and the .50 BMG. Introduced in 2021, it is designed for military and law enforcement snipers requiring extended range and enhanced terminal performance.
Sharing bolt face dimensions, rim diameter, overall length, and maximum operating pressure (420 MPa) with the .338 Lapua Magnum, the .375 Swiss P features a larger base diameter of 15.73 mm, derived from the .500 Jeffery case. This design allows for straightforward conversion of existing .338 LM rifles by simply replacing the barrel, facilitating a cost-effective upgrade.
Equipped with a 22.7 g (350 gr) Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) bullet, the .375 Swiss P achieves a muzzle velocity of approximately 865 m/s, delivering around 8,492 joules of energy. Its high ballistic coefficient (G1 BC of 0.8014) ensures extended supersonic flight up to 1,600 meters, reduced wind drift, and superior long-range accuracy.
An Armor Piercing (AP) variant, featuring a tungsten carbide core, is capable of penetrating German Protection Level IV body armor at distances up to 600 meters. The .375 Swiss P offers a significant performance enhancement over the .338 Lapua Magnum while maintaining a lighter and more manageable platform compared to the .50 BMG
