  • The 30 TC (Thompson Center) is a rimmed centerfire rifle cartridge designed by Thompson Center Arms in 1964 for use in their Contender single-shot pistol and other firearms based on the popular 30-30 Winchester round. The 30 TC offers a significant advantage over the 30-30 Winchester due to increasing its case capacity from 45 grains of water to 90 grains, thereby boosting velocities up to 4,000 feet per second with some loads. It also has excellent accuracy potential at medium to long range distances which makes it a great choice for both target shooting and hunting applications.Ammunition for the 30 TC is available from several manufacturers in various bullet weights ranging from 100 to 150 grains with hollow point or soft point bullets suitable for hunting applications where maximum expansion upon impact is desired. The light recoil and flat trajectory of this cartridge make it especially suitable for longer shots beyond 100 yards with minimal drop off or over penetration beyond the target area.
